William P. Immer
Working with the idea that the history of art is often lost in the broad view of things, Immer started taking a closer look at how people view that history and what exactly they might be looking at. Starting with the language of the observed, he began to take the details into all sorts of visual direction.
Having first seen Immer’s paintings 3 years ago we tried unsuccessfully to persuade him to produce new work for us. So, it’s with great pleasure that we can share with you five new ‘period’ studies carefully rendered by Immer’s own hand. Attention to detail is everything with Immer, something the average viewer of today might not be familiar with; But, his mischevious tendency is something that same viewer will easily recognize as current. ‘Old manners rung through the prism of a thoroughly modern eye’, that’s how we try to describe it.
